Short-Term Outcomes Following Endoscopic Proximal Hamstring Repair

چکیده

Open surgical management of proximal hamstring tears appear to yield superior outcomes versus non- operative, however, little is known about the efficacy performing an endoscopic repair. Therefore, purpose this study was evaluate repair (ePHR). Specifically, we evaluated: (1) functional and subjective outcomes; (2) effectiveness treatment (pre-to-post-operative change); (3) complications; (4) acute chronic tears; (5) partial complete tears. A retrospective cohort performed on a consecutive series patients who underwent ePHR with minimum 1- year follow-up (range, 12 48 months). Charts were analyzed for pre post-operative passive range motion (PROM), strength, VAS pain, UCLA activity, modified Harris Hip (mHHS) scores. Complications including re-tear site, infection, iatrogenic nerve injury, inability return work/sport, persistent weakness, pain sitting, subsequent surgery recorded. Descriptive statistics (count, proportion, mean, standard deviation) computed each variable. Student t-tests used comparison continuous data chi squared tests determine differences among categorical data. We identified 20 (6 males, 14 females) mean age 46 years 18 63 years). At most recent follow- up, 1.85 (SD 2), activity 8 mHHS 90.6 10.5), PROM hip flexion 121.7 degrees 14.5 degrees). Effectiveness demonstrated significant improvement in objective by 17.3 degrees, 3, 3 points (Table 1). Subjective weakness reported (42.1%) sitting (15.8%). Return work sport 100% 95%, respectively. There no observed between significantly higher post-operatively (95.5 85.7; Table 3). Following ePHR, demonstrate function. To our knowledge, first case investigating larger studies longer-term outcome will be necessary future.

Endoscopic repair of proximal hamstring avulsion.

Hamstring muscle injuries are common in athletes and mostly consist of sprains at the myotendinous junction, which often respond well to conservative treatment. Proximal hamstring avulsion injuries, though less common, can be severely debilitating. This injury is often seen in water skiers but has been described in many other sports and in middle-aged patients. Complete avulsions in young and a...

Endoscopic transtendinous repair for partial-thickness proximal hamstring tendon tears.

Partial tears of the proximal hamstring tendon can successfully be managed with tendon repair in cases of failed conservative management. As in partial-thickness gluteus medius repair, a transtendinous technique can be used to repair partial-thickness undersurface tears of the hamstring origin. This report details an endoscopic transtendinous approach for the treatment of partial-thickness hams...

Proximal Hamstring Repair Strength

Background: Proximal hamstring repair for complete ruptures has become a common treatment. There is no consensus in the literature about postoperative rehabilitation protocols following proximal hamstring repair. Some protocols describe bracing to prevent hip flexion or knee extension while others describe no immobilization. There are currently no biomechanical studies evaluating proximal hamst...

Functional results and outcomes after repair of proximal hamstring avulsions.

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to assess postsurgical outcomes in active patients after primary repair of acute and chronic proximal hamstring tears. HYPOTHESIS Surgical treatment of both acute and chronic proximal hamstring avulsion injuries would result in improved patient outcomes using validated outcome scores and a hamstring-specific questionnaire, and operative repair of these...
